Shalom for the Holidays | Nov 29, 2010

Volunteer and mission opportunities will resume in late February, but you can support the project right now. If you are looking for a unique Christmas gift or don’t know what to you buy the person who has everything, we can help. Make a donation to UMUMR and Shalom Farms to support children and families in need across metro Richmond. A $20 gift can provide our local organic produce to a Richmond family for a month. $50 will support a cooking class for ten area children and their parents. A card will be mailed acknowledging your gift and the project it supports. Donations start at 5$. Email dbarrett@umumr.org or call 266-9350 to order a gift card or for more information.

As always, you can see pictures of this past season and follow us on facebook at facebook.com/shalomfarms.

Shalom Farms and Hillside Court | Jun 8, 2010

A group of volunteers from Hillside Court and Embrace Richmond joined us at the farm on Friday, June 4th. We harvested well over 300 lbs of collards and squash. Much of the squash and all of the collards were given out with the help of these same volunteers at a community event near Hillside Court on Saturday.

The rest of the squash went to Church Hill. We distributed and gathered contact info at the Church Hill Games on Saturday afternoon. What a wonderful event put on by our friends at Blue Sky with the help of CHAT and others. A beautiful collaboration with over 120 kids from the greater Church Hill area participating.

As always, see more pictures and follow us on facebook.
